Thank you for sharing as mentioned above... lots of scary stuff out there. I try not to get that deep in the rabbit hole of anything medically speaking as I was in medical many years myself and definitely experienced as a patient now too! I truly believe everyone can have and ultimately will have their own results and feelings, but I know that being told positive things from someone who's experienced what you are about to can not only lessen the anxiety of it, but it can help by seeing and reading what to expect from the moment they get up that day to the day they're at their annual follow up... not just by those who are trained to explain from a text book, but those who understand bc they went thru the private thoughts, the worry the stress physically emotionally and most of all, the recovery part and can speak from that raw, real and genuine part that only someone who understands can understand mine is in a cpl weeks... 9/11 of all days actually. The part that worries me is doing this alone. I guess the things that make us resilient and unique yet like minded are the very things that we do alone so we can help everyone else should they be on this path also someday hugs and my prayers for all of you who want to have this part of your story be a great chapter, but definitely not a sad one... only lots of inspiration from yourself to yourself and all those whose lives you help by adding a reminder of the result being worth the process... and not just physically but emotional and spiritually no matter your own personal life...the bond that holds our hands together also keeps our hearts with one another

Thank you Wendi, that's EXACTLY why I share. Not everyone will have these results, but we need to go into it with hope, not dreading what we're going to come out with.

I hope your DMX has gone well, and you're on the path to recovery.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I have my DMX with tissue expander surgery in six weeks and your positive story has made a huge difference for me. I’m over reading the “scary” stuff! While
I know everyone has a different journey it’s wonderful to read and know that there are positive outcomes to look forward too!

Hi Lesa. Can I asked what happened to you please ? I have my first recon surgery next week. I had a mastectomy with no recon three years ago. Next week I have other mastectomy and then begin eight to ten weeks of expanders. One side of me is completely flat so I'm nervous of how this will work. Anything is a help. Thanks I'm 36. I think this is something best discussed with your surgeon. Each of us is very different and our doctors all have different ways of doing things. Some may say it's okay to do before radiation, others will not.

I agree my cancer surgery part of my cancer was actually a piece a cake, including drains and expanders.. but when I got infection in one side after my implants and had to have tubes re-inserted it really messed up my head because everything has been going so smoothly, and then I got capsular contracture are on both sides and had to have surgery on both sides, one side turned out fabulous the other side he said the scar tissue was so thick he had to cut it out not just score it so that it would lay down flat…
