Sadly I think it’s probably genetics and skin tone. I did use Bio Oil twice a day on my scars from as soon as the dressings came off, but that was more to soften the scars than for fading.

I don’t have any suggestions, except time. I can barely see the scars now, 4.5 years out.

In reply to Carolyn. I didn't have any areola left, so I can't say whether or not it would work. Perhaps just request that she tattoos the "other" skin to match the areola that you still have?

I am interested in getting a 3D tattoo on my breast that I had 2 surgeries to remove cancer and part of my areola. The tattoo artist told me that the dye does not bond to the remaining portion of areola. I am torn whether I should try getting the tattoo. Any thoughts?

I had breast cancer masectomy and reconstruction. Would 3d tattoo be covered under blue cross advantage/Medicare? If so in Michigan how much do you think I would have to pay? It will be a month before my appt. Thank you pauline
